Call it ironic or what you will but on the day Aaliyah passed away, I had just watched Romeo Must Die, her first co-starring/major role (with Jet Li). I remember saying to myself during the ending credits, "She's so hot and talented. She's gonna make it big wit that Anne Rice vampire movie." Right after I turned off my DVD player, the news was on and there was a news anchor lady, and a small picture over her right shoulder of a plane wreck that was in the ground. At first, I thought it was another private plane crash, which probably involved some inexperienced pilot but I was wrong. As soon as I heard Aaliyah's name, I knew something had gone wrong. She was dead. My mind totally went blank. It was around 11'o clock at night and every news channel was broadcasting the story. The coming days would be full of grief and tears. Fans and close friends shared their memories, the only remnants of Aaliyah left with us in this world. Coming back to the present, almost a year later, Aaliyah is still making the news. With her Soul Train nominations and her last and final album still going strong on the charts, Aaliyah is still with us. Her talent and passion for music, acting and performing will forever be remembered by her fans and industry friends. Aaliyah was a shining talent among the common boy-bands and teen-boppers. She was soulful, talented, beautiful and had a long, long successful career ahead of her. But life is just like that, unpredictable. If you miss her, please sign this Aaliyah-Gallery guestbook for your thoughts to be seen by the many fans who visit this site and miss Aaliyah. Rest in peace girl.
